Costs
The total cost for the program can be summed up as:
- $25.00 non-refundable application fee due at the time of application.
- $135.00 for an online math course required of all new apprentices.
- $800.00 annual tuition fee.
- $301.00 for hand tools (if you purchase from the Program).
The ETAK Program pays all college tuition to Pellissippi State Community College for each apprentice.
Our total cost for training for each apprentice exceeds $5,000 per year and that amount continues to climb. A pretty good scholarship for apprentices.
Other costs during apprenticeship:
- Union dues, paid to the Local Union, are less than $50 per month. Much of this cost is applied to fund a member’s IBEW pension and life insurance plan.
- 3.5% working assessments are deducted from wages to fund the Local Union operations and building fund.
TOTAL COST FOR ALL FIVE YEARS is currently $4,000. By then you have earned 45 semester hours of college credit and, maybe another 57 semester hours of college credit.
WE SUGGEST this is a pretty good scholarship. And, you are vested in the NEBF pension plan ($160 per month at retirement). And, this retirement increases $32 for each
additional year you work before retirement. And, the NEBF is only one of three retirement plans
